On January 31st, a full moon eclipse coincided with Centre Pompidou’s 41’s anniversary (birthday?). The year 2018, brings up the memories of May 68 and the ideals that shaped it, leaving behind the many celebrations for its 40’s and revealing a deep existential crisis. Issues such as identity, gender, family, support, the past and the future are brought to light. Which ideals shall it redeem and which ones shall it let die? Confusion, disorientation… where to land?
Speap In.situ.tion has placed its research inside the space of subjectivity -of the subject Centre Pompidou- during the past two weeks in residence at the festival Hors Pistes 2018: The Nation and its Fictions. The reading of its natal chart has marked the end of the festival and the beginning of a journey of self-knowledge and exploration, envisioning a last scale in May 2018, at the Théâtre des Amandiers, in Nanterre.
